Security and Privacy
We have made every effort to ensure we protect your personal information. Here you will find information on how we protect your security and privacy, changes to the law regarding use of 'cookies', information on ordering with us and assurances about credit and debit details.
This privacy information was last updated on 15th June 2011. Thornit Limited.
We also outline the security measures we take to protect your details once you have given them to us. You can then make informed choices about the personal information you provide on this site.
When you buy goods and services from us we record your details to ensure that we can for example:
be certain that any orders you have placed can be processed to completion
contact you in emergencies, such as an urgent product recall
deal with any financial queries
This data will not be used to send marketing offers or shared with any other business other than those identified in our terms and conditions.
If you cancel your registration you will no longer be able to shop online or receive e-mails from us. Any orders you have placed will be processed as normal. You cannot open a new account using the same e-mail address as a previously closed account.
Ordering online using your credit card details is just as safe as ordering goods over the telephone, if not more so. Thornit Ltd has been issued with a Secure Server Digital Certificate by the online Certification Authority, VeriSign, and has been authorised to display the VeriSign Authentic Site Seal. Furthermore, all credit/debit card payments are securely handled by an industry-leading payment processor and are never stored on the Beads & Bows website.
A 'cookie' is a file in your web browser that enables us to recognise your computer when you visit the site.
The tool is used by many Web sites to help collect information, such as how many people visit and return to the site, what products are being bought, and to make certain parts of the site function properly.
Like other retailers we use 'cookies' to allow us to fill in our login fields with your email address, once you have registered. This is to enable customers to login to our site more quickly and easily when you make future visits to beadsandbows.co.uk.
If you are using another person's computer to login to our site (eg in an internet cafe or a colleagues computer at work) then it's possible your e mail address will display in the login field to a subsequent user of our site. We therefore advise customers to clear 'cookies' stored by the web browser when using another person's machine in order to prevent this from happening. The option to do this is normally found within the Tools dropdown menu at the top of the browser window.
If you have "disabled" the cookies file in your browser, you may experience technical problems with some parts of the site (for example products you have placed in your basket may be lost.)
From 26 May 2011, websites will need user consent to store a cookie on the user's computer or device, unless the cookie is deemed 'strictly necessary' for a service requested by the user.
We are currently reviewing how this change to the law affects Beadsandbows.co.uk, the cookies we use and what changes we will need to implement to ensure we're compliant with the law and maintain a great experience for all our users.
